It's an old (2001) IBM ThinkPad A21p.
850MHz PIII, 512mb RAM, 16mb ATI gfx, DVD-ROM drive, floppy drive, 1600x1200 resolution 15" display (!!!), 30GB HD, Windows 98SE + Windows 2000 dual boot. Everything seems to work except for the battery but that's expected.

I had one of these in 2001 when I went to school in the Upper Peninsula at Northern Michigan University. They provided every student with one to use as part of tuition.

ugh, reminds me of the laptop I have at work to support legacy hardware.
Step 1) Place trash can in front of desk.
Step 2) Push laptop off desk into trash can.
Step 3) Use saved time to advantage.

Nice! That's a much more compact solution compared to my Windows 98 SE / Windows 2000 setup.
With those specs, that thing should fly on Windows 98 SE.

that is a massive resolution for a computer that old. Nice, IBM / Lenovo products hold up pretty well.

They're fun to tinker with if you like older games + software, operating systems. Plus, this one is sturdy as hell and has an amazing keyboard.

What kind of a person works with hardware, but doesn't appreciate IBM laptops?

I appreciate them. I just don't like working with old hardware for the sake of working with old hardware. They were great durable workhorses, and Lenovo is pretty good now. In fact, that's what I'm typing on. Also, my legacy unit isnt IBM, it just has a similar hardware spec and software load. It is a piece of shit old armada that likes to die when I need to debug PLC code.

Fair enough. :) Please excuse me, up until recently I helped out in a computer museum and I love old hardware.
As for the Armada... it's Compaq. :D I liked them back in the day when I was playing Test Drive on an (I think) orange and black screened LTE 286 notebook. Ahh, good old days. Sorta.
